Ottawa, ON – The National Police Federation (NPF), representing approximately 20,000 RCMP Members across Canada, is pleased to confirm the appointment of Rob Farrer as President and three new Board Directors following ratification of a recent Board election at the organization’s Annual General Meeting on June 17, 2026.

The Annual General Meeting marked an important leadership transition for the NPF, with a new Board that will continue to advance the interests of RCMP Members and their families from coast to coast to coast.

Joining the NPF Board are newly elected Directors Erin Charabin (Saskatchewan) and Mark Fraser (Alberta) representing the Prairie Region, and Alex Roussel representing RCMP National Headquarters in the Atlantic-Central Region. The NPF’s full Board is listed below.

“It is my honour to serve our Members as President,” said Rob Farrer, President of the National Police Federation. “My thanks to Brian Sauvé for his important role as Founding President of the NPF, and I look forward to working alongside our Board and staff to support and advance our work on behalf of RCMP Members across and beyond Canada. Together, we will build on the NPF’s strong foundation while focusing on the issues and opportunities that matter most to our Members.”

The National Police Federation extends its appreciation to outgoing Founding President and C.E.O. Brian Sauvé for his leadership, dedication, and vision. For generations, RCMP Members served without a union and without a formal voice in decisions affecting their pay, benefits, and working conditions. As the Founding President, Brian and our previous Boards worked with NPF staff and others to establish the NPF as the sole certified bargaining agent for RCMP Members and a strong, national voice for Members.

We also extend our sincere thanks to outgoing Directors Morgan Buckingham, Jeff McGowan, and Steve Madden for their service and contributions as founding Board Directors who helped shape the organization over the previous seven years and build strong Member representation.

As the NPF moves forward under new leadership, its mission remains unchanged: supporting our Members directly, advocating for necessary investments, legislation and policies, and ensuring the perspectives of frontline policing professionals are represented in conversations that affect public safety across Canada.
