About Alex Roussel
Prior to joining the RCMP, Alex worked as a conservation officer for the National Capital Commission (NCC) in Ottawa. He attended Depot in 2015 and built his policing foundation in J Division starting in 2016, gaining firsthand experience in frontline contract policing. In 2020, he transferred to the National Capital Region (NCR), where he first started in Traffic Services before moving to Protective Policing. He subsequently moved to National Headquarters (NHQ), transitioning his operational background into International Policing. Over the last couple of years, he has continued to broaden his operational experience through relief assignments in both V Division and D Division.
Driven by a strong commitment to member welfare and fair representation, Alex stepped into the role of Local Area Representative (LAR) in 2022. Recognizing the unique pressures of the NCR, he has consistently advocated for a member-first approach to addressing those challenges. Alex has dedicated significant time to helping members navigate workplace challenges and access the support they need. Committed to delivering meaningful results for members, he advocates for ensuring members are equipped with the highest quality resources. He recognizes the critical nature of timely medical support and consistently advocates for efficient Health Services Officer (HSO) processing to minimize delays in member care.
Additionally, he believes in breaking down barriers to career advancement by supporting expanded access to language training for all NHQ members. Alex believes Ottawa and NHQ offer exceptional opportunities for professional growth and is committed to ensuring members have the resources, support, and opportunities they need to succeed.
