Since the start of 2025, Members in H Division have responded to and been impacted by a series of potentially traumatic events. Although we all know these incidents are an unfortunate part of policing, it’s important to acknowledge they have the potential to leave lasting effects on both your physical and mental health if not addressed early.
We would like to remind each of you that prioritizing your health—both mental and physical—is crucial from the day you receive your badge to the day you retire. This is not only essential for your safety and well-being at work but also for your families’. It’s important to make self-care a priority which can include seeking out professional help, doing activities you enjoy outside of work, or both.
The RCMP offers a variety of benefits to help support you during these times, including the Health Services office, which can be reached at 902-720-5460 or via email at [email protected].
If you find yourself in need of quick access to counseling or support, we encourage you to access TELUS Health Virtual Care benefits provided through the NPF. It’s an excellent resource to help you address mental health needs urgently, including for Members in remote areas of the province. Many have used it and found it helpful.
You can also visit the NPF’s Member-to-Member page (login required), which lists a wide range of mental health and wellness resources available to Members, including links to PSPNet and other resources, plus information and contacts for the National Reintegration Program. Members can also hear directly from their colleagues about mental health and wellness supports through confidential, Member-only videos shared on this page.
Don’t hesitate to reach out to the NPF Member Service Centre available 24/7 to assist you with any inquiries, feedback, or requests for help. You can contact them at 1-833-673-8326 (1-833-NPF-TEAM) or via email at [email protected]. You can also reach out to any of your H Division Local Area Representatives, or to Atlantic/Central Region Director Jake Foran directly.
Stay safe, take care of yourself, and remember that we are all here to support one another.
Sincerely,
