Brian Sauvé, Director

Brian is a 16-year Member of the RCMP currently holding the rank of Sergeant. Brian is President, and a co-founder of the National Police Federation. Before founding the NPF, Brian served as a front-line RCMP Member, Serious Crime Investigator and Staff Relations in the Lower Mainland of BC.

A long-time advocate for all Members and their families, Brian was instrumental in pushing the RCMP to implement the “Road to Mental Readiness (R2MR)” training to help reduce stigma surrounding mental health. He has been trained in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) since 2012 to support colleagues and families. He provided a Members’ perspective in the development of the RCMP’s Mental Health Strategy and was a key advocate for “Road to Mental Readiness” resilience training for all Members. He has also advocated for the purchase and training of PTSD/OSI service dogs not funded by the RCMP.

Brian has appeared numerous times before Parliamentary Committees advocating for better resources for Member wellness and mental health given the alarming and ongoing increase in serving and retired Member suicides. Similarly, Brian has actively supported families of fallen Members, who are too often forgotten over time.

Brian founded NPF and serves on the Foundation Board to make a meaningful and positive difference for RCMP Members and families.
