Upcoming NPF Elections

The NPF is committed to conducting a democratic election for its first Board of Directors to represent the membership. This election will begin shortly as we have just received the electoral list from the RCMP.

The NPF has entered into a contract with Simply Voting to conduct this election, all ballots and all voting will be done electronically through Simply Voting and their 3rd party platform.

The NPF has also contracted Mr. Chris Hoffman, retired Vice President of the Ontario Provincial Police Association to act as the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO). Mr. Hoffman will receive, vet and approve all nominees as well as conduct all electoral processes for this NPF election. Should a candidate have a concern over the process, the CEO has an electoral committee consisting of other police association executives available to him to adjudicate complaints.

The NPF has received permission from the RCMP to send one NPF email to the membership to explain the nomination/campaign/vote process. This will include a hyperlink to nomination paperwork and to encourage registration from the minority of members who have not signed up so NPF has their personal contact information for future correspondence.

The NPF has also received the consent of the RCMP to use the GroupWise email system for the contracted external voting company to distribute electronic ballots. Similar to the certification vote in November-December 2018, members will receive an email with a hyperlink to the vote site and a unique PIN to enter to access their ballot. A second reminder email from the voting company to those who have not yet voted will follow one week later.

Following confirmation of the successful candidates at the NPF inaugural AGM – to be held a minimum of 21 days after the close of voting, the NPF will then begin elections for local, part time representatives across Canada. We anticipate all elections will be completed by Spring 2020.

As this process evolves, we will keep you updated.
