The Statutory Freeze, Unfair Labour Practices and Why They Matter

The NPF is dedicated to representing members who have had their collective rights breached, including breaches of the statutory freeze as our application proceeds through the certification process.

We’ve drafted two documents intended as helpful overviews for members to learn more about a statutory freeze and what it covers, and about unfair labour practices. We hope this will help you identify and bring possible breaches to our attention so we can continue to bring forth the claims that have a good chance of success. You can read these documents here:

Earlier in August, we submitted two complaints of unfair labour practices that we feel are breaches of the statutory freeze. We were successful with one and await the outcome of the other. You can read about them here.

If you are aware of other potential breaches, please do not hesitate to send them to us at

We’ll continue to update you on our certification progress. In the meantime, here are three other things you can do to help.

  1. Join the NPF.  Click here.
  2. Share this information with your colleagues.
  3. Stay informed by downloading our app on iTunes or Google Play. (You don’t need to join or share your personal email to use our app.)
