This afternoon, two directors of NPF met with an MPPAC Director and a member for an initial discussion about how we might work together in the best interest of all RCMP members.
The meeting was informal with no set agenda, and we were pleased to have an opportunity to talk after many requests to MPPAC. We had a good exchange of ideas, and shared each organization’s interests and concerns. We hope to continue these discussions in the new year.
We continue to believe that merging the competing groups would be best for all members and would allow the newly aligned group to immediately apply for certification. RCMP members have been working too long with nobody standing up for our interests. We’ve fallen behind on pay, overtime, resources, equipment and other key issues.
Regardless of what these talks might bring, we are optimistic and gaining momentum. We will ramp-up our outreach out to RCMP members across the country to explain the many benefits of representation and NPF’s strong, experienced, member-focused leadership.
