Certification Voting Update & Member Feedback to Commissioner

Certification Vote Update:
We are pleased to let you know that the eligible voter’s list has been finalized and the FPSLREB has confirmed that members will receive their voter packages both electronically through their work email and in print mailed to their home address. Please note that the FPSLREB will have a mechanism in place for members to self identify if they do not receive voting instructions. Once those details are announced, we will let you know.

We are again waiting for the FPSLREB to announce the actual dates the vote will take place. We do know that the vote will run for four weeks and it will be electronic, managed and implemented through an external third-party voting platform.

After the vote is complete, the constitutional challenge of Bill C-7 brought forward by the QMPMA will be heard November 19 to 23. Once a decision has been rendered on that challenge, the ballots will be counted and results announced from the vote.

Feedback to Commissioner re Modernizing the RCMP:
On August 8, we asked for your input on modernizing the RCMP in response to the July 27 Commissioner’s message seeking same. Please see the letter we sent to the Commissioner on your behalf with the collated and unattributed results of your responses and suggestions. We are pleased to announce that the Commissioner has responded and appreciated all input received.

It is more important than ever for all members to join the NPF in order to be kept aware of voting dates and process, so please share information with your colleagues who have not made their decision to join the NPF.

In the meantime, here are three other things you can do to help.

  1. Join the NPF.  Click here.
  2. Share this information with your colleagues.
